The revised, 21st Century edition of the timeless classic of Rock and Roll, true love, and incredible adventure!
This is the story of an aging Deadhead, who goes to a concert in Eugene, Oregon, and gets caught up in an adventure that involves him with a greedy IRS, a delusional CIA, and the Grateful Dead.
The IRS wants his money, the CIA wants his bootleg tape, and the Dead want him to stop the evil Coffee Cartel from destroying the rainforest. Our hero tangles with unsavory characters in Brazil, gets the girl, and saves the world. He makes a brave stand against the forces of bureaucracy, fast food, and evil. Things will never be the same.
Beloved by fans and true patriots, this is a book that takes in some shows, plumbs the depths of outer and inner space, stays high, and rocks out! Written back in the day, when no one would ever say back in the day, Get Outta Town, truly captures a time of good music, good vibes, and unlimited possibility.

This is a GREAT yarn! In it's early chapters, there's a great capturing of experiencing a Dead concert (but with characters drifting in and out who are weird in a very non-Dead way). In it's later chapters, it assumes the sort of fast-paced, page-turning, compelling (yet hilarious) tempo of a Tom Clancy novel -- but with a pair of Deadheads as the protagonists instead of vets from the military/espionage community (although there's one of those too among the cast of characters).I received it as an e-gift and started reading immediately. In short order, I put down all else until I reached the end. "Believe it if you need it, if you don't just pass it on . . . ."

Get Outta Town A Tale of the Dead the IRS and Coffee edition by Ted Ringer Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
For any one who loves adventure stories and the Grateful Dead and love this is the book for you. Guitars, girls, intrigue, conspiracy, and wild times, this is it. I guarantee that you will enjoy this page burner.
A fun read to take the Deadhead through familiar places and trippy adventures.
Ringer has a way with descriptions, and although some things are incredibly fanciful and a product of a hyped-up mind (the space shuttle comes to mind), others are essentially Minnie as He is.
The opening sequence is a great introduction to this "Jewish Hippie Boy from New Jersey". Obviously most of this story is fiction, but much of it has a basis in fact - it's up to you to figure out how much you want to believe.
This book is great as a beach read, as long as you can suspend your belief and groove to the music...
The concept is outrageous and the writing is a bit amateurish but it's a good natured effort. Is DeadLit a new sub-genre?
It's not profound but it is all kinds of fun especially for aging hippies. Ted also writes kids books - I'll try those next. Highly recommended if you just want an entertaining read.
Bought this as a read for my husband. He loves it! Some stories may sound a little far-fetched, but whose to say it didn't happen in a Dead Life? Lots of material here to enjoy, take the trip!
